Option 1: forward the QR image from the app
Google Pay lets you save or share your own payment QR from inside the app. Open it, find the screen showing your QR or payment address, and use the save or share action. Attach the saved image in the WhatsApp chat.
Fine for a single request. The image carries app branding, is sized for a screen rather than a chat card, and often loses sharpness once WhatsApp compresses it.
Option 2: build a clean payment card from your UPI ID
A Google Pay UPI ID is a standard UPI address. Enter it above and you get a QR any UPI app can pay, laid out as a card that reads clearly in a chat. Nothing about where the money lands changes.
- Find your UPI ID in the Google Pay app under your profile or payment settings. Handles commonly end in
@okhdfcbank,@okicici,@oksbi, or@okaxis. - Enter your name and that UPI ID above.
- Add an amount only if everyone receiving this card should pay the same figure.
- Select Create QR code, then Share on WhatsApp.
On supported phones the share action opens your WhatsApp share sheet with the card attached. On other devices the card downloads first and WhatsApp opens with a short message, so you attach the image in the chat.
The ok prefix is normal
UPI IDs from Google Pay usually start the handle with ok followed by the bank, such as @oksbi. That is the bank handle behind your account and it is a valid UPI address. Any app can pay it.
Check it before you send it widely
Have someone scan the card and send ₹1. Confirm the name shown in their app before payment is yours, and that the money arrives in your account. A mistyped UPI ID produces a QR that looks completely normal and pays someone else.
If a QR arrives from someone else, check who it pays before you send money.
